Rappahannock County Farm Tour
Saturday, September 25, and Sunday, September 26
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., rain or shine
Tickets: $5 per person, ages 16 and older

(Intersection of Route 211 (Lee Highway) and Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway)
A variety of events, presentations, tours and more will take place at the
participating farms, orchards, wineries and plant nurseries. Printed
programs will be distributed at tour registration at The Link Community
Center in Sperryville, the starting point for this self-guided tour.
Programs include:
• Student-guided tours at farm schools, hands-on experiences with small farm animals
• Presentations on animal and crop rotation for sustainability
• Community-supported agriculture farm market, walking tour for adults
• Presentations on farming with nature, the truth about organics; nature crafts program for kids
• Vineyard tours, vineyard maintenance and the yearly cycle of grapevines from vineyard to bottle, possibly grape harvesting
• Demonstrations of proper pruning techniques
• Conservation measures implemented on the farm to preserve natural resources, particularly water
• Cows with young calves at their sides, pigs with piglets
• Presentation on the importance of bees
• Sheep-herding dogs; multi-species, rotational grazing; horse power on the hoof
• Cooking grass-fed meats; homeopathic and natural veterinary practices.
• Gardening from the ground up; creating and maintaining healthy soils;
• Much, much more!

Join locals for a delicious barbeque dinner and authentic barn dance to benefit the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, a local, citizen-based conservation group.
